Zack Snyder’s Justice League Five millennia ago, Apokoliptian warlord Darkseid and his Parademon army attempted to conquer Earth with the help of three Mother Boxes. They are foiled by a coalition made up of Old Gods, Amazons, humans, Atlanteans and Green Lantern leaving the Mother Boxes in their place, to be protected by Amazons Atlanteans, Amazons, and humans, each of whom to guard. At present, the death of Superman [d] causes the boxes to activate and draw Steppenwolf Darkseid’s exiled lieutenant. Steppenwolf is determined to win Darkseid’s trust by collecting all the boxes and creating “The Unity” that will transform Earth into an exact copy of their homeworld.
Steppenwolf overcomes the Amazons on Themyscira to gain access to their Mother Box. Diana Prince is threatened by the Amazons and discovers that Darkseid is planning an attack on Earth and Steppenwolf. She informs Bruce Wayne, who is trying to join forces to form a team made composed of metahumans who will defend Earth. Having previously failed to recruit Arthur Curry, Bruce finds Barry Allen, while Diana discovers Victor Stone. Barry is hired, as Victor refuses to join until his father Silas and the others from S.T.A.R. Parademons are taken hostage by S.T.A.R. Steppenwolf is able to take down and kill the Atlantean guards who protect the Mother Box and is then capable of taking it along together with Mera, Arthur and Arthur who are unwilling to depart.
James Gordon, Gotham City Police Commissioner, gives the team information that leads them to Steppenwolf’s army in an abandoned underwater facility. Bruce awakes in his penthouse in the wake of an unresolved vision of the future [g] and receives the surprise visit of Secretary of Defense Calvin Swanwick, appearing as the Martian Manhunter, who thanks Luthor for the team he put together and then promises to be in touch in the near future to prepare for Darkseid’s return
